But Natalie Wasn’t in the Truck

Police initially believed the fleeing person might have taken her.

Then officers reviewed traffic-camera footage.

The pickup had only one visible occupant.

Natalie was nowhere in sight.

A search team returned to the woods.

Thirty minutes later, they found her purse near the creek.

Her wallet was inside.

So were her keys.

But Natalie herself was still missing.

Detectives Examined the 911 Call

The audio became important.

The first voice was clearly Natalie.

“Someone’s in my house.”

Then a crash.

Then:

“Get away from me!”

But audio technicians noticed something.

The second voice did not sound aggressive.

It seemed to say:

“Natalie, stop!”

Detectives replayed it.

Again.

Again.

The words appeared to be:

“Natalie, stop!”

That suggested the confrontation might not have started the way police first assumed.
