Eric Was Still Missing

The investigation shifted.

Police now had Natalie.

They had Michael.

But Eric had disappeared.

His phone was off.

His truck had been abandoned.

Search teams returned to the woods.

Dogs tracked a path from the creek toward a service road.

Then the trail stopped.

Detectives believed Eric had entered another vehicle.

Voluntarily or otherwise remained unclear.

Then an ATM Camera Captured Him

At 4:16 a.m., Eric appeared at an ATM twenty miles away.

He was alive.

He looked tired.

He withdrew $400.

Then looked directly toward the security camera.

And held up a piece of paper.

Three words were written on it:

CHECK DAD’S STORAGE.

Then Eric walked away.

Police Found the Storage Unit

Robert Brooks had rented a storage unit years earlier.

Nobody in the family had visited it since his death.

Detectives obtained access.

Inside were old furniture pieces.

Business files.

Tax records.

And a locked metal cabinet.

Inside the cabinet was a second copy of Robert’s will.

It was different from the one used after his death.

In this version:

Natalie and Eric inherited equal shares.

That immediately raised serious questions.
