The Accountant Changed His Story Again
Michael Grant admitted he knew the second will existed.
He claimed Robert had asked him to store copies.
“Why wasn’t it submitted?”
“I assumed the attorney had the same version.”
“Did you tell anyone?”
“No.”
“Why?”
Michael hesitated.
“Because Jonathan told me it was invalid.”
Police reminded him that Jonathan had denied knowing anything about it.
Michael stopped talking.
Eric Finally Called Natalie
The call came the following afternoon.
Police were with her.
Natalie answered on speaker.
“Eric?”
His voice was quiet.
“Are you okay?”
“Where are you?”
“I’m fine.”
“Come to the police station.”
“I can’t.”
“Why?”
Then Eric said:
“Because I don’t know which part of this is about Dad’s money—and which part is about something else.”
Natalie asked what he meant.
Eric replied:
“Look at the last page.”
