Patricia Refused

Instead, she reached for the chair again.

Rachel grabbed the opposite side.

“Leave it.”

Patricia looked stunned.

“Rachel.”

“Put it back.”

“Don’t pull on it.”

“Then stop moving it.”

For several seconds, both women held opposite sides of the chair.

Neither was hurting the other.

Neither was willing to release it.

Emma stood several feet away, staring.

Then Patricia said:

“You’re seriously doing this in your wedding dress?”

Rachel replied:

“You’re seriously removing my father from the front row twenty minutes before I get married?”

That was when Ethan arrived.

Ethan Walked Into the Worst Possible Scene

He had been told there was a “seating problem.”

Instead, he found his mother and his bride holding opposite sides of a chair.

“What’s going on?”

Patricia immediately released it.

Rachel did not.

Patricia spoke first.

“I’m trying to prevent the ceremony from becoming depressing.”

Rachel stared at Ethan.

“Your mother removed Dad’s chair.”

Ethan looked at Patricia.

“Mom.”

Patricia raised both hands.

“I moved one chair.”

“You knew we wanted it there.”

“I told you weeks ago that I didn’t think it was appropriate.”

Ethan answered:

“And I told you it wasn’t your decision.”

Patricia’s expression changed.
