Vanessa Didn’t Get the Victory She Expected
When Michael found her, she saw immediately that Olivia wasn’t wearing the necklace.
She relaxed.
That lasted about three seconds.
Michael said:
“She took it off herself.”
Vanessa nodded.
“Okay.”
“No. Not okay.”
Vanessa stared at him.
“You tried to take jewelry off my daughter after she told you not to.”
“I wasn’t hurting her.”
“That isn’t the point.”
Vanessa crossed her arms.
“What is the point?”
“The point is she said no.”
Vanessa went quiet.
Michael continued:
“And the other point is that you told her we’re starting a new family like she wasn’t already part of mine.”
“That is not what I meant.”
“Then you need to tell her that.”
Vanessa Refused at First
The ceremony was now ten minutes late.
Guests were seated.
The coordinator was panicking.
Vanessa started crying.
“Can we please just get married?”
Michael looked at her.
“I want to.”
“Then let’s go.”
“But not until we fix this.”
Vanessa stared at him.
“You are delaying our wedding over a necklace?”
Michael answered:
“No.”
He paused.
“Over what happened because of the necklace.”
That distinction mattered.
