Megan Didn’t Speak to Him for Three Weeks

Daniel sent messages.

She didn’t answer.

Eventually, she agreed to meet him in a coffee shop.

She looked tired.

Daniel apologized for the way the wedding ended.

Megan stared at him.

“But not for ending it.”

“No.”

She nodded slowly.

“I hated you for that.”

“I figured.”

“Part of me still does.”

Daniel accepted that.

Then Megan surprised him.

She had started therapy.

Not because Daniel demanded it.

Because after the wedding she had spent weeks thinking about the argument.

She realized she had been trying to create the kind of “perfect family” she never had as a child.

And without realizing it, she had defined perfection in a way that excluded someone who was already there.

Daniel didn’t immediately forgive everything.

And Megan didn’t immediately forgive him either.

She believed he could have handled the situation without stopping a wedding in front of 140 guests.

Daniel couldn’t honestly say she was wrong.
