Kevin had never posted his recording publicly.
But Melissa had sent part of her doorbell video to her sister.
Her sister sent it to a friend.
Eventually, a short clip ended up in a neighborhood Facebook group.
It showed Eric and Melissa both holding the trash bin.
It did not show the previous six months.
It did not show the blocked driveway.
It did not show Eric moving the bins earlier that morning.
All viewers saw was a man pulling a trash bin away while a woman tried to pull it back.
The comments exploded.
Some people called Eric aggressive.
Others said Melissa was provoking him.
One person wrote:
Why is an adult man fighting a woman over a trash can?
Eric hated that comment.
Melissa saw it too.
She actually defended him.
She replied:
He never threatened or hurt me. We were both pulling the bin.
That surprised Eric.
Eric Later Admitted He Handled It Poorly
A few days later, he spoke to Melissa outside.
“I probably shouldn’t have moved them onto your lawn before pickup.”
Melissa nodded.
“Probably not.”
“But I was really tired of it.”
“I know.”
She paused.
“I probably should’ve found another spot months ago.”
Eric smiled.
“Probably.”
Neither apologized perfectly.
Neither admitted the other person had been completely right.
But the bins never appeared near Eric’s driveway again.
